HCHC TO HOST VIRTUAL COMMENCEMENT ON MAY 15, 2021
In order to ensure the continued safety of its campus community during the ongoing pandemic, Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology will host its baccalaureate and graduate school Commencement ceremonies virtually this year, honoring the classes of both 2020 and 2021. The virtual format will allow the graduates, their families and friends, alumni, and all others who are part of the extended HCHC community to take part without the need to travel. Students at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology have several new opportunities to broaden their intellectual and spiritual knowledge this spring semester by learning from distinguished visiting scholars. His Grace Bishop Maxim (Vasiljevic), the Bishop of Los Angeles and the Western American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church, will offer an elective course in the area of dogmatic theology titled Theology, Economy, and Liturgy: Trinitarian Theology and the Economy of Salvation. HOLY CROSS LAUNCHES NEW ONE-YEAR CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology is launching a new one-year program in the 2020-2021 academic year: the Certificate in Youth and Young Adult Ministry and Leadership. The program is designed for those who have completed their bachelor's degrees and wish to deepen their theological knowledge while developing skills and understanding necessary for effective ministry to young people. Rev. Dr. Eugen J. Pentiuc, Archbishop Demetrios Professor of Biblical Studies and Christian Origins at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, has been invited by the Ecole Biblique et Archaeologique Francaise (EBAF) in Jerusalem to join the faculty there as a visiting professor for the Spring 2021 semester. KALLINIKEION INSTITUTE GOES ONLINE FOR 2020
The Kallinikeion Institute at Hellenic College Holy Cross is an intensive Modern Greek language program sponsored by the Kallinikeion Foundation, offering two courses in Modern Greek, one at the beginning level and one at the intermediate level, with all classes taught by members of the HCHC faculty. This year the program, which is open to both HCHC and non-HCHC students, will run from Monday, May 11, to Friday, June 5. The title of his presentation was "John Geometres' Life of the Virgin and the Georgian Life of the Virgin attributed to Maximus the Confessor." Dr. Patitsas Publishes Book on the Ethics of Beauty

The HCHC community was delighted to welcome back Jennifer Rice recently while she was on furlough from her work as a missionary in the Guatemalan village of Aguacate under the auspices of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC). During her days on campus, Jennifer spoke to students about her experience as a missionary at Vespers and at an evening event hosted by the students' Missions Committee. HCHC was well represented at the National Conference on Missions and Evangelism held February 3-5, 2020, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbus, Ohio. The theme of the conference, which was made possible by a grant from Leadership 100, was "Leading Change Toward a Healthier Parish." Fr.
