FR. CALIVAS RECEIVES HONORARY DOCTORATE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS

Dr. Alkiviadis Calivas, Professor Emeritus of Liturgics at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology and past President of HCHC, was recently awarded an honorary doctorate by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The honor was bestowed upon the unanimous recommendation of the faculty of the Department of Social Theology and Religious Studies of the University's School of Theology and by the unanimous consent of the Senate and Chancellor of the University. Dr. John Chryssavgis, Archdeacon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, has been appointed the first Executive Director of the Huffington Ecumenical Institute at Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, effective September 1. HCHC HOLDS 81st COMMENCEMENT

The day began with Orthros and Archieratical Divine Liturgy in Holy Cross Memorial Chapel with His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America as celebrant. Commencement itself followed in the Maliotis Cultural Center Theater.
